Services - Structured Cabling

Fibre that tests clean and up
stays that way.

We design, install, splice and certify optical fibre for commercial sites across Newcastle and the Hunter - backbone links, campus interconnects, terminated properly and proven with test results.

A fibre run is only as good as its worst splice.

Fibre either performs or it doesn't, and you find out at commissioning. A single poor fusion splice, a dirty connector or a bend radius pushed too far will cost you dB you cannot get back, and the symptoms show up later as dropped links, flapping switches and cameras that record intermittently.

Unified Security installs and splices optical fibre in-house across Newcastle, the Hunter and Central Coast. Every link is fusion spliced with calibrated equipment, terminated into properly managed enclosures, and handed over with OTDR traces and insertion loss results - so you know exactly what was installed and how it performs, not just that a light came on.

Capability

What we design and install.

Every link is specified from the site and the bandwidth it needs to carry, not from what's on the shelf. Typical scope below, scaled to the job.

Single-mode & multimode installation

OS2 single-mode and OM3/OM4 multimode fibre installed for building backbones, riser links, campus interconnects and long-haul runs beyond the reach of copper - indoor/outdoor, loose tube and tight-buffered constructions selected for the environment.

Fusion splicing

Core-alignment fusion splicing for new links, extensions and repairs - spliced into trays with correct fibre management, protected with heat-shrink sleeves and documented per fibre.

psychology

Termination & FOBOT fit-off

Pigtail splicing into rack-mount and wall-mount fibre optic break-out trays (FOBOTs), patch panels and wall outlets - LC, SC and legacy connector formats, labelled and schedule-documented at both ends.

OTDR testing & certification

Every link tested with OTDR trace and light source / power meter insertion loss measurement, benchmarked against the standard's loss budget. Full test reports supplied at handover - the documentation your IT contractor or certifier will actually ask for.

fence

Fault-finding & fibre repair

Broken or underperforming fibre located by OTDR to the metre, then repaired by splice or section replacement - including damage from excavation, rodents and failed contractor work on existing links.

save

Pit, pipe & inter-building links

Underground lead-ins and building-to-building links through new or existing pit and conduit networks - rodded, hauled and installed to spec, with external-grade cable and correct transitions at building entry.

Spliced for the loss budget. Certified, not assumed.

There is a difference between fibre that lights up and fibre that meets its loss budget. We install to the second standard and prove it.

Fusion spliced, not field crimped

Every joint fusion spliced.

Mechanical splices and field-polish connectors have their place, and it is not in your backbone. We fusion splice with core-alignment equipment, inspect and clean every connector end-face before mating, and manage fibres in trays with bend radius respected - because the difference between a 0.02 dB splice and a 0.3 dB one decides whether a long link works at all

Tested and documented

Handover means test results, not a handshake.

Every fibre we install or repair is OTDR traced and loss tested in both directions, with results compared against the calculated loss budget for the link. You receive labelled schedules, traces and insertion loss reports at handover - so when a network integrator, certifier or head contractor asks for evidence, it already exists.

Security and network in one contractor

The same contractor that installs your security.

Most of the fibre we install carries CCTV, access control and building networks - so we design the fibre and the systems on it together. One contractor runs the link, splices it, certifies it and commissions the cameras on the other end. When something doesn't perform, there is no gap between the cabling contractor and the security contractor to argue across

Distribution centre

Industrial & warehousing

Long-run backbone links across warehouses, yards and plant - distances and electrical noise that copper cannot cover, delivered on single-mode fibre.

Retail premises

Multi-building campuses

Schools, aged care and commercial campuses - inter-building links through pit and pipe, tying every building onto one network and one security platform.

Commercial real estate

CCTV backbones

Fibre backbones for large camera networks - full-bandwidth video from far switches and poles back to the head end without repeaters or compromise.

Construction site

Construction & new builds

Fibre installed with the build programme - conduits proven, cable hauled, spliced and certified in stage order, with documentation ready for handover.

Healthcare facility

Office & commercial fitouts

Riser and inter-floor backbone fibre for tenancies and whole buildings - tied into comms rooms with managed FOBOTs and clean patching.

School campus

Repairs & remediation

Cut, crushed or poorly terminated fibre on existing sites - located, spliced and re-certified, often same-day for critical links.

Civic building

Council & public infrastructure

Fibre links for civic facilities, car parks and public-space CCTV - installed and documented to an auditable standard.

In-house capability, not a subbed-out trade.

Many security and data contractors quote fibre and then subcontract the splicing. Unified Security owns the splicing and test equipment and does the work with our own licensed technicians - which means splicing capability on every project, no third-party lead times, and one company accountable for the result. Fibre type, connector formats and enclosure hardware are confirmed at the design stage against your network requirements.

Compliance & Standards

Compliant and documented.

Every link we install is delivered by directly employed technicians, with the documentation to prove it performs.

  • Cabling installed by registered cablers under the ACMA cabling provider rules
  • Fibre installed to relevant AS/NZS cabling and installation standards
  • OTDR traces and insertion loss reports supplied for every link
  • Labelled fibre schedules and as-built documentation at handover
  • Systems delivered under NSW Master Licence No. 000109179

Get a link you can prove.

Send us the run - two buildings, a riser, a camera pole 800 metres out - and we'll design the fibre path, splice count and loss budget before a metre of cable goes in.
